Installing a chain link fence for a tennis court requires precision to create a safe, high, and durable barrier. The standard height is 10 feet to effectively contain tennis balls. Begin by laying out the perimeter and setting terminal posts (end, corner, and gate posts) in concrete. These must be perfectly plumb, as they bear the fence's tension.
Next, set line posts at intervals of about 10 feet, also in concrete. Once the concrete has cured, attach the top rail to the terminal posts using rail ends. Unroll the chain link fabric (typically 9-gauge) along the fence line. Attach one end to a terminal post by weaving a tension bar through the end of the mesh and securing it with tension bands. Use a come-along (fence puller) to stretch the fabric tightly to the opposite terminal post, then secure it there. Finally, tie the fabric to the top rail and line posts every 2 feet using aluminum tie wires. Install a double-swing gate of the same height, ensuring it has a secure latch and wheels for smooth operation.
